Professor denies global warming theory

My friends, I see that the climate change dissenters can now count another amongst their number.

William Happer, the Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics at Princeton University, is now a fully-fledged dissenter.
All the evidence I see is that the current warming of the climate is just like past warmings. In fact, it’s not as much as past warmings yet, and it probably has little to do with carbon dioxide, just like past warmings had little to do with carbon dioxide. I have spent a long research career studying physics that is closely related to the greenhouse effect, for example, absorption and emission of visible and infrared radiation, and fluid flow. Based on my experience, I am convinced that the current alarm over carbon dioxide is mistaken.
He was a former director of the Office of Energy Research (now the Office of Science) in the U.S. Department of Energy, but was sacked by Vice President Al Gore for having the temerity to question his stance on so-called climate change.

So much for scientific debate!

"In 1999, GMI received grants from the Exxon Education Foundation.[13] The institute's CEO William O'Keefe, formerly an executive at the American Petroleum Institute and chairman of the Global Climate Coalition, is a registered lobbyist for ExxonMobil. [14] The GMI was described in a 2007 report by the Union of Concerned Scientists as an ExxonMobil-funded "clearinghouse for global warming contrarians".[15] ExxonMobil still currently provides funds to the Institute [16]."

  2. Interesting, Liam, of course, but does a source of funding instantly negate the views of those in receipt of the cash?

I only ask because there are plenty of proponents of man-made global warming theory receiving money from governments, special interest groups and other interested parties who all unquestioningly follow the green agenda.

    Isn't their 'science' equally suspect?

  3. That's pretty impressive. One whole scientist has joined the 'climate change dissenters'... I can see why you thought this was newsworthy.

I'll now ignore the opinions of the vast majority of scientists and of every scientific institution of internationa standing who disagree with him because I prefer this one scientists opinion to theirs. Cherrypicking? No sirree.

Anyway, it's not as if he's the only one. He's joining many others, increasing numbers all the time.
